If you saw the reaction to that reporter saying "everyone's sick of this", and his response is "there's plenty of people giving speeches in Washington", you'd recognize that there is no concept of right or wrong, good or evil, just and unjust extant in him. It's just prestige, power, access, personal honor, and notoriety.
There were and are plenty of middle managers like that throughout fascist regimes of the past, and many liberal democracies to this day.

The 2016 convention pulled the curtain back on a lot of the inside sausage makers.The worst of it is they know EXACTLY what they are doing, how it effects others, but they take gleeful pride in it all.
