    I think her family was actually relatively well off, but her father died in 2008 and any safety provided by what they had saved up got eaten away by the recession and legal battles over the estate. But the rate at which someone who is ostensibly middle class can lose everything in the thunder dome of American capitalism is another good argument for socialism. Honestly it might be a good idea for her to focus on her backstory as one of losing middle class stability, it might appeal to a large chunk of PMC libs who are at least partially sympathetic to her views.

      Her dad was an architect, and I'd say they were very middle income. He owned his own firm so I'm sure that made healthcare and things like life insurance non existent. She definitely had some real struggles after her dad died.

      Also they didn't really enter the middle class like that until she was a few years into school.
