The very last paragraph

“Simple things that most families already do can help,” Dr. Zajac said. Still, the bottom line was that effectively curbing our PFAS exposure “ultimately requires policy and regulation,” she said. “Unfortunately, you can’t shop your way out of exposure.”

I wonder if it's fundamental human need when faced with scary dangers outside of your control that people tend to believe in utter nonsense snail oil "cures" that will protect them.

This is kind of the running theory on conspiracies, isn't it? To take Milton for an example, it's either we fucked up so hard we'd need to restructure society entirely (which never does play well with conservatives) and change everything, alternatively you shoot Kamala Harris so she doesn't HAARP you anymore or something.

What petrifies me is huge number of Americans who believe in utter nonsense like Jews control the weather or that Biden has buttons on his desk titled

          • "Destroy Florida."
          • "Destroy Texas."
          • Etc

as always the problem is systemic but changing that is a big ask so we come up with little clean-living rituals to give us a sense of control as we white-knuckle through life

I decided not to read the article because I knew it would really annoy me and I'd nearly want to yell out loud to myself "The solution is the government! Especially the federal government! C'mon mention that!" Out of curiosity - I couldn't help but look at the final paragraph and it actually made me even angrier. You fucking garbage rag - you buried the lede which should be the very topic of the article. In fact that "regulations should exist" article should have been published long before the election to get people thinking about it before they vote!

Instead of issues that need to be fixed - American politics is forever covered as entertainment-sportsball-reality tv-horserace.

I keep making Onion posts and comments. I keep trying to stop but the dang MSM keeps giving me softballs to hit and at least get doubles. How can I resist? Seriously though - can't believe "be wary..." is an actual subheader in the text.

the capitalist innovation of fluorinated blood. Soon we will all be like Senator Armstrong, except instead of nanomachines, literally every hydrogen atom in our bodies has been replaced by fluorine
