Has to be new though, my grandparents would always send us weeks-old stale fruitcakes they made and they were literal bricks.
Oh yeah totally! I’m still not totally sure what the little jelly things are lol
with or without marzipan top is the real struggle session. I'll take mine plain thanks
give me a plain one, but with a little bit of marzipan on the side
I don't think i have ever seen one in the wild. Maybe I dont go to fancy enough grocery stores. I have only seen 90s cartoons make fun of it.
It's supposed to be served covered in rum yeah? I think that would improve people's take on it.

I'm listening.
I've never actually had fruitcake as it's not a thing where I'm from so I'm open to the idea of it being good despite american pop culture saying otherwise
We have a family recipe that is a variation of a “California fruitcake” which is basically dates, apricots and walnuts mixed with sugar, eggs, flour and some salt and baked in loaf pans.
The stollen they sell at Aldi is better than most American-style fruitcake, but every panettone I've ever bought has been dry and gross. Maybe they're good in Italy or Argentina or wherever.
