When you do dissociative like nitrous, you're like physically disconnecting your brain from some of the normal sensory input your body gives you. You're not actually dying, but it can definitely be unsettling. The best way to do any of these dissociatives, IMO, is in a dark room and in a sort of meditative mindset.

Nitrous is also a big rush because of the method of delivery--being catapulted into a very different headspace can bring anxiety as well.

oh that's good to hear. i am sure i will wind up doing nitrous again because im fucking bored and unemployed and i try to limit my more harmful substance intake (alcohol etc). whippets seem pretty safe

I think objectively the biggest danger with whippets is falling over and hitting your head, so make sure you're lying down, and bon voyage.

Don't do whippets frequently. They're fine now and then, even an all night long bing from time to time. But doing even small amounts every day for a while can turn bad. Nitrous effects the way your body can take in vitamin B12, so you can end up with a severe B12 deficiency. Taking more B12 won't help since your body won't be able to metabolize it.

Not trying to scare monger - for the most part you're right, and they are safe when used in moderation. Just throwing this info out there for the sake of harm reduction.
