    Varadkar is the perfect representation of neoliberal identity politics, imported right from America to Europe. I vividly remember the headlines saying how he was the first gay man at the head of Ireland, and how optimistic we should feel because of it. Needless to say, nothing about his policies was mentioned in these articles.
