        Well yea if a person over the age of 50 doesn't explicitly state the race of the person they're talking about for no discernable reason you know the person was white.

          i always call people on this when they do this, mentioning the race of a person in a story they're telling. 9 times out of 10 it wasn't relevant in any way to the story but when questioned, they'll say something like "I was just trying to paint a picture of the scene".

          OK so why didn't you relay to me vivid descriptions of the setting and location? You just said "at the store" or "on the street". I thought you wanted to "paint a picture" wordsmith
