I'd ask if this is intended to be as intimidating as it appears to be but obviously the answer is yes. Isn't this literally what they mock the cultural revolution in China of doing? Of turning people into willing spies or enforcers for the 'movement/ideology'?

I've definitely been in 100 arguments with yanks about how draconian australian laws requiring you to vote are, now look at them, haha!

you can ruin your ballot and get your name checked off, there's no one forcing you to actually cast your vote, blahblah democracy

There's something about anticommunist pearl clutchers. Like they don't actually disagree with the things they accuse Stalin, Mao etc of doing, they think that's shit's extremely cool and wish that they could do it themselves to their own political enemies. The pearl clutching is therefore entirely performative, "oh the Commies banned books they don't like unlike us the free speech warriors"/"we should ban every book that depicts a non cishet person."

Some chuds are honest enough about admitting they believe that all "sides" are just as selfish and ruthless and want to fuck over everyone else. Their belief is clownishly wrong, but it's how they feel.

No chance they'll just make assumptions that perfectly conform to their already held beliefs.

Everybody who looks like a nice young man voted for republicans and all those other expletives voted for the commie.

Well yea if a person over the age of 50 doesn't explicitly state the race of the person they're talking about for no discernable reason you know the person was white.

i always call people on this when they do this, mentioning the race of a person in a story they're telling. 9 times out of 10 it wasn't relevant in any way to the story but when questioned, they'll say something like "I was just trying to paint a picture of the scene".

OK so why didn't you relay to me vivid descriptions of the setting and location? You just said "at the store" or "on the street". I thought you wanted to "paint a picture" wordsmith

My state has a referendum to finally ban shooting mountain lions on the ballot this year but it leaves open the "it was coming right at me" defense South Park made fun of all the way back in 1997.

The local HOA asked me if I knew anything about setting up a website for their org. I told them I'd "look into it and see what kind of options are out there." What I really thought was "lmao get fucked and thank Allah none of you have discovered Next Door."

My sibling has Next Door and says it's mostly just alerts whenever a brown or black person is walking down the street, also inquiries if anyone heard a gun shot, there's a shooting range a couple miles away.
