Ok the spices and herbs aren't cheap but buy them in bulk first and it's a good investment
Look at these radical socialists trying to get me to cook at home. Sorry commies gonna order pizza 3 times a day like a patriot.
At an Indian store you can usually find ginger paste (I use ginger/garlic paste).
Yeah I feel that. I brew my own ginger beer so I generally use it all in that. Otherwise if you can use the canned minced ginger, while not as good as fresh, will stay good forever
But in this I just chopped it pretty roughly since it gets worked in pretty easily
freeze it! buy it whole, toss it in the freezer. you can grate it fine while it's still frozen and it keeps basically forever.
Iirc you can store tightly wrapped ginger in the freezer for, basically, ever.
plus you can use them in everything
edit: i am once again asking the op to post recipe :bernie:
https://www.cookwithmanali.com/chana-masala/#wprm-recipe-container-47104 Used this one! And a lot of the spices are very versatile, especially if you like Mexican food
heck yeah. looks good.
im probably gonna add extra bay, but this is def gonna be my thursday
My calories are like 60% from dal and lentils at this point.
If you want some veggies I would take any veg you have and make a sabzi (basically a spiced stir fry) and have that on the side. Adds some variety day to day.
And if you're veg you can use ghee as the base oil for most North Indian food and it adds something extra.
Ghee is fucking amazing - Costco near us started carrying it & we buy 6 jars at a time. Revolutionized home cooking. Also feels good as hell to have some shelf stable butter.
I'm gonna get a few cases of it to have a multi-year supply on hand.
Highly recommend
Ghee folks, it's good.
It's also ridiculously easy to make from leftover milk fat, just needs electricity
south indian daal fry is a grate dish to eat with naan or chapati as well
hey, sometimes a girls gotta eat what's in her fridge, even if it's not traditional. tastes plenty good and takes less time to make than chapati (assuming you're not making naan from scratch, anyway).
Veggie curry rules. You can get premade sauces from Kroger's or Aldi's for less than 2 bucks where I live. I usually peel and cook down an entire eggplant into the sauce ( just saute it and reduce with beer, stock- whatever and mash it in the pot). Then I parboiled potatoes, frozen peas and carrots, chickpeas and bell peppers. Serve with naan or jasmin/basmati rice (worth a 20$ 10lb bag). I make this at least once a month and we have food for 3 for 3 nights. PS omnivore here cutting back don't even miss the meat.
this looks good, but be careful to avoid 4channa masala. it'll make you sick. 8channa masala? lethally poisonous.
It's also pretty easy to make from shelf stable ingredients, my plan for food shortages is basically just eating a lot of Chana Masala
Enjoy

Is Veganism tomorrow's strug-sesh or did we already do that one? I like to get my strawmen ready the night before if possible.
Is Veganism tomorrow’s strug-sesh
It's right now. What, you're not vegan? Lib.
Sir I will have you know I am this website's designated lib, you're all leftists compared to me. You're welcome.
This reference was clearly a veiled attempt to make me learn more history. Good try but now I'm going to go rot my brain more with commercial media.
