Look I know it's just a bunch of harmless old out of touch libs, but some of these posts are beyond parody:

I almost feel sorry for them, but I see homophobic "jokes" like this and feel less bad (they're talking about Trump blowing his mic):

I have nothing snarky to say about this one I just think it's funi:

The way libs use queer folk is disgusting, like a toxic relationship. Trying to tell us they are the only ones who can protect us with one breath and throwing unmasked homophobia the next. It's tiring.

They do this with trans rights and immigration too. They don't even understand the issues they are supposedly fighting for and have no plan of action should they win any of those fights. To them, trans is just "boys in girl sports" and that's it. Immigration issues are just a goddamn dog whistle for their own unrealized white nationalism. It's just pure distilled bigotry all the way down but at least they feel good about it I guess.

Oh of course they do, the fuckers each think they are free and independent thinkers yet all serve the same ghoulish system.

There's been a series of TV ads for and against a specific candidate constantly playing often back to back on the local news slop my dad loves to watch. All the attack ads are things like "candidate A isn't killing enough refugees and drug addicts" and candidate A's defense ads are all "yes I am I'm killing so many refugees and drug addicts here's a cop who likes me"

    We live in southern Illinois

You live in one of the most historically safe blue states in the US, your vote does not matter.

Hell yeah I love these old pre-reddit forums. They even use the same little emotes that these types of forums always had.

Wait I just thought of something awesome

Honestly they have the right idea as far as the technical side is concerned

When are we gonna get a JS-free Lemmy frontend? (When I sit down and make one ig)

The truly grassroots left-of-center political community

Saw that and then just left. Grassroots doesn't mean anything anymore.

I remember DU back in the day—I got my start as a politics weirdo in the Bush era, never posted there though, just argued with people who did.
