The fact that any “serious” journalistic outlet is still on Twitter is a condemnation of them to be quite honest. At this point Twitter is barely different from Truth Social or Parler

Wow I forgot all about mastodon. Does anyone use that at all? Or are we seeing a tower of Babel moment with social media?

Honestly they should just come to Hexbear

I use mastodon sparingly but that is largely because I don't like micro-blogging.

This is a pretty good left-leaning server on there.

I will say though mastodon largely is a liberal site. Most servers are full of those who left twitter sooooo...

If you like micro-blogging though it is the best alternative. Free and open source, and federated.

It just means Twitter-style posting. Twitter came up when "blogs" were becoming a big deal, but its character limit meant it was like a "micro"-sized format of blogs. This is all from well before it had features like quote tweets, replies, and all that.

it's weird just how entrenched twitter is in the media industry. even when it becomes absolutely broken and useless for interacting with anyone but the most braindead freaks and morons in the world and run by the king of the dipshits whom everyone hates, journalists have stuck to it because "that's how you network" like do you people not have email addresses and websites?

I went away from Twitter for a long time but I started browsing it again from time to time. I just find Mastodon too lib and too full of this fake civility. There are still good things going on on Twitter like how the truth about the story of "Amsterdam attacks" was uncovered there while all the media lied. I find that most info about Palestine is found there and most push back against the Zionists.

You can join "our" Hexbear instance: toots.matapacos.dog

It's not very active but you'll see a couple of familiar users.

Thanks I'm already there, but haven't been super active on Mastodon lately. I do enjoy the server though.
