    Semi-related: How come it seems like 90% of the people who say they "don't support the Democrats or the Republicans" turn out to be chuds, while 10% are comrades?

    I'm obviously exaggerating that number, but any time I hear that take, I have to brace myself because more often than not it's followed up with gross opinions about trans people or immigrants.

      Because people are embarrassed to be Republican in polite company (Republican company is not polite company).

      Also it's a dog whistle; Republicans know what he means, and democrats are too preoccupied with someone dangling keys in their faces to pay attention.
