So lemme get this right, they went through the trouble to engineer a sweeter grape but forgot to make them seedless?

The grapes themselves are actually seedless, according to the patent, the EULA is likely to stop people growing new grapes from the vine.

Xi send the fucking nukes. Fruit with an EULA sounds like the preliminary notes for a Radiohead lyric, I don't know how much more late capitalism I can take.

these people worked very hard inventing the grape - they deserve to be rewarded, using the grape's inherent biological ability to reproduce is ILLEGAL

Monsanto has sued over cross-pollination. Monsanto has sued over using mixed seedcrop from a co-op as planting seeds. Monsanto will continue to sue even after being acquired by Bayer.

every person I hung out with over the summer (which wasn't a lot because of covid) loved these cotton candy grapes and always made me try them. I never looked at the bag but I was always kinda suspicious of them, and it feels good to have my suspicions validated lol

You know what they say. Innovation is 1% inspiration, 99% coming up with some bullshit mechanism so that you and you alone profit from that inspiration.
