I'd probably be up for something similar like that if America wasn't around. I can only imagine the difficulty of defending yourself from the empire and doing good by people at the same time.

I totally agree. I typically go with experts in Reddit comments to form narratives about foreign governments.
I find it easy to criticize anyone, I don't care which side you're on, this statement is not making any particular conclusion about the displayed countries.
