let's give each other something to cry about that heals instead of hurts ❤️ what silly thing makes happy tears spring up in your eyes?
awards ceremonies always get me, no matter how mundane – I was the weird 4H mom applauding and wiping away tears about every kid, not just her own 😂🙃
love seeing someone open a gift they're genuinely super excited about
commercials often get me, too
Where I live, my apartment balcony windows overlook a school bus stop. It's a very racially mixed area. Lots of young first-generation immigrants as well. Seeing the kids from all those different religions and ethnicities talking and playing together is heartwarming.
Whales.
Its something about how graceful and beautiful and HUGE and social they are. I'm tearing up as I write this but thinking about their family structures, language and ancient migratory patterns really fucking gets me. I hope we figure out how to talk to the whales, I want to tell them I love them and I'm sorry for what we are doing to them.
Elephants do the same thing to me.
When Shonen protagonists use the power of friendship to charge up their fireball uppercut.
Those videos where a kid asks their step-parent to adopt them.
Seeing young children enjoying learning and reading, I'll cry at the reading rainbow song don't test me lol.
Live theater, especially a big-ass production with lots of singing and dancing makes all my "humans are cool actually" diodes explode and I always end up sobbing.
I was the weird 4H mom
hæmophiliacs, homosexuals, heroin users, and Haitians
I would love all those kids just the same ❤️
in case you actually are curious about 4H:
4-H is a U.S.-based network of youth organizations whose mission is "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development".
The goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach.
Its name is a reference to the occurrence of the initial letter H four times in the organization's original motto head, heart, hands, and health, ...
...
I pledge my head to clearer thinking,
my heart to greater loyalty,
my hands to larger service,
and my health to better living,
for my club, my community, my country, and my world.it can be a pretty cool organization for kids, depending on who leads the club your kid joins, but there are usually several clubs in an area that your family would qualify to join. we landed in one with other nerdy, neurodivergent families, and it was a great experience.
i almost cried tonight watching a little surprise thing for a friend's birthday. one guy improvised a song on his keyboard for him and everyone was just super there for it. it was great
