“Years ago now — 15 years ago — I was in Washington doing ‘Meet the Press.’ It was a sunny Sunday and lightning struck at home on a little lake that is outside of our home — not on a lake, a big pond,” Biden said.

“And it hit a wire and came up underneath our home into the heating ducts, air conditioning ducts. And to make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette and my cat.”

Oh the one hand: "kitchen fire" makes it sound like like an unserious stovetop mishap vs a fire that happened to manifest in the kitchen after a lightning strike. Pretty disingenuous but it's NYPost so not surprised

On the other: Whinging about how you nearly lost your classic sports car in a fire to people whose lives have been at worst destroyed or at best irrevocably altered is not a good look Brandon. Not doing much to beat the "out of touch Dem" allegations

As well as lying about almost losing his wife, to a crowd that may well contain people who just lost loved ones

Me explaining to a shooting survivor who lost friends that my buddy got shot in a COD match right in front of me and it's basically the same thing

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Lightning struck the home of Sen. Joseph Biden, starting a small fire that was contained to the kitchen.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the house, but were able to keep the flames from spreading beyond the kitchen, said Cranston Heights Fire Company Chief George Lamborn.

"Luckily, we got it pretty early,'' he said. "The fire was under control in 20 minutes.''

It's not a great look, particularly when you recall he has other firefighter involved events to reference

President Joe Biden opened up about the death of his first wife and daughter during remarks at an event honouring firefighters on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Summit on Fire Prevention and Control in the South Court Auditorium of the White House, the president spoke movingly and appreciatively about how first responders saved his sons from the car wreck that killed their mother and sister.

In high school I had a really shitty week where all of my pets died, my adoptive father almost died, and our house burnt down

My AP bio teacher tried "comforting" me by saying "I'm buying a house right now so I know what you're going through" it was so tone deaf I couldn't even say anything

She also very unfortunately experienced 2 miscarriages that year and I get why she didn't want to share that with me but like why compare being homeless and grieving to...buying a house????

She really thought the main problem with your house burning down was having to deal with a realtor lol

Not anywhere on the same level, but after I proposed to my wife, I told some people at work and all the divorced shitheads (there were a lot) were all like "haw haw haw good luck" smuglord

And were they right? Or were they just a bunch of losers too emotionally immature to maintain a marriage? I’m guessing the latter. Fucking men.

One is divorced and has a few DV charges, the other I later found out was a horrible, racist sex pest. There were 5 people on the sex offender registry all working at the same time at one point while I was there. There were only like 20 people in the building at any given time.

I know "good luck" usually is said in jest, but I'm having incredible luck being married to her. Best decision I, or we ever made

Mind telling what line of work is so full of sex pests? My first thought was "cop" tbh, but then these people wouldn't be on any list.

Commercial bakery. There's a distinct lack of people trained in that field. The ones that do get trained go on to work at little pastry shops and nice kitchens. Those of us that just crank out loaves are usually a motley crew

It's similar to a kitchen atmosphere in my experience. The ones that have a storefront like the one I run now have to keep a lid on the kinds of music and discussions we have in case a customer comes in. That helps cut down on the weirdos. Also, I reluctantly found myself to be the most knowledgeable and senior employee, so I guess I'm in charge now? The upside is I get to curate the vibe, and vet the people that apply.

I've had a fair few people in their early twenties come through and I have to say, they seem pretty radicalized. The kids are alright

It's a personal rule for me that I never say "I know what you're going through" because no one has ever said that to me and been right. Sometimes I'll say "I had a similar experience, it made me feel this way, and this brought me comfort. Maybe it will comfort you. If it doesn't, let me know if there is anything else I can do."

"as protesters demand prez leave"? C'mon NY post. Is there a headline character limit that you need to change?

man, Biden could've had a real good statement here if only Maui succumbed to cancer or was in a tragic car accident.
