Reddit thread says "St. Louis school districts lose nearly 11,000 students over 5 years"

One response, at -32 score:

A certain portion of that are sick kids, not all of it, of course, but some of it. Covid never went anywhere, folks are still getting sick, and apparently, the shit builds up in your body, how many of these kids have long term issues now? :(

How would that affect enrollment? You think there are a statistically significant number of primary and secondary school aged kids dealing with long COVID so severe they aren't enrolling in school anymore?? (+14)

Correct. I think between kids dying, kids getting sick, parents dying or getting sick have had to make a lot of parents make some hard choices. As I said, it's not the whole reason, its' part of the reason.

Edit: Clarified my statement. I am one of these parents that have had to make these choices, and I am in groups of parents that have had to make these choices. So, your mileage or perspective may vary. (-18)

Insane behavior (+7)

k stares at my disabled wife Call it whatever you want. (-13)

🤔 (+3)

So, "homeschool your kids because she's immunocompromised" was a plan from her doctor? Or a decision reached after spending thousands of hours on "the sky is falling" COVID subs filled with hypochondriacs and people with medical anxiety sharing their neuroses? (+7)

Ah, you're one of them. This conversation is over. I appreciate your time. (-2)

Seems like it's the latter, then (+3)

My wife has had 8 brain surgeries and has ME/CFS, yes our doctor has suggested strongly we behave safely, it’s just none of your damn business, I don’t have to justify myself to random internet strangers (not Grorx, the other guy) who are disrespectful. (+2, holy cow!)

It's none of my business but you brought it up on a pubic forum, so I'm gonna comment on it 🤷 (+1, also fuck you oh my fucking goooooddddd)

Listen, I know it's just some random city reddit. I know it's "not indicitave of wider culture" (except it actually is in this case, lol). I don't care, I saw this and I need to get this shit out of my system. This is all around us right now if you take COVID seriously — a pandemic that never ended! Unmitigated spread of a virus that is still causing harm that we still do not completely understand every single time you get infected, again and again and again! We do not want to be fucking around with this, despite everyone's best efforts! And people like this, who call you insane? These are your neighbors! The parents in your neighborhood, the people at the grocery store, the folks you pass walking on the street. They are all this! I hate this fucking country so much! They all just fucking hate us so, so much.

lol now I'm imagining Doc "advising" Hank and Dean on superspreaders:

"Boys, these…plague rats…aren't the types of people you want to associate with. They're rife with all sorts of diseases and germs! squints towards crowd, adjusts glasses Yeesh, feels like you could catch mono just from making eye contact with one of them."

Your posts on this are a breath of un-Covided air.

I can't wait for the holidays, when I'm forced to be around people (and their small children) whom I know for a fact did not mask at the airports they'll have just arrived from, and I'm the one who'll be called "rude" for keeping my distance and declining to shake their hands.

my wife passed a toddler and a newborn with absolute horrid wheezes and constant coughs in between breaths a while ago and told me it almost brought her to tears. do you think these people cared about covid? the ignorance play only goes so far; we are not lemmings. we know what we're doing. i only hope to whatever god exists that these people will be made to answer for this in this life or the next. we live in hell

        we live in hell

This is actually part of what got me to fall away from Abrahamism and really anything that preaches 'eternal torment after death'

How do you get worse than what these plague rat-assed humans inflict on each other on the daily?

there is a tongue in cheek theological argument, that our world is worse than hell because in hell there are only guilty people who deserve to be there.
