Destroying the facade of rainbow imperialism would be a major victory for the left, and republicans are doing it for us

True, but I'd much rather rainbow imperialism die to progressive foreign powers, rather than regressive policies from within. Oh well.

Very much a "let them fight" thing. If it radicalizes a few more queer folk against imperialism, all the better. vivian-shrug

Yes it ruins assimilation into the normative and oh suddenly a lot of combat experience pissed off people are looking for an explanation.

Yes. It'll not cripple the military, it'll just make it less diverse and prevent queer chuds from accessing the same opportunities that cishetallo chuds have

sadness You're probably right, but I can hope. Maybe this combined with other recruitment negative policies will at least reduce their strength?

But recruitment is starting to climb back up, even though branches aren't meeting their quotas, so who knows.

Fuck the military but it's absolutely a bad sign because anything they do in the military reflects what they're going to do outside of it. Changes in the US Military almost always presage changes elsewhere in US society. It went that way with integration, gay and then trans acceptance - and now they're rolling the last one back.

On one hand less well armed gay people is bad. On the other, abolishing the US Navy is good

Eh, they've already been coming for other groups. Kinda bitter at all my fellow gay and trans friends that seemed a lot less progressive over the past year.
