I answered and he was talking about how he needed to go to get groceries to feed his kids. he was offering to do yard work or clean my car (it was like 9pm). my roommate gave him some of our food from the fridge. in the end i felt pretty bad for the guy and i gave him $20. I usually give people a few bucks if they ask for it on the street if i have it and go about my day, but i did feel pretty uncomfy with someone coming to my front door (not an apartment, just a like a squat little one-story house).

would you have done something differently? am i overreacting? idk i just feel weird and sad that our society puts people in this situation.
