Came across this while scrolling replies for people to add to the block list and wowie. I was aware of the habit of calling Russian people 'orcs', but now they're also using 'goblin' to refer to North Koreans. Yes, I posted a screenshot of another screenshot. Just in case you need another reason to stay away other than the transphobia. I've seen just as many "DEUS VULT" dogwhistle usernames that I've also reported and they've done nothing about, so unless you're writing explicit slurs, it seems like they're going to just let things ride like everywhere else.

It's silly but it really is insidious. The implication being that the 'orcs' are both brainwashed and corrupted by a more powerful authority figure, while the 'goblins' are their lesser and cowardly underlings. Both are 'corrupted' versions of better beings that are now inherently evil and incapable of any good. Just mindless fodder that wants to kill and eat anything it comes across, along with other depravities. I think that deeper meaning is lost and why people use it so freely because most people would not agree that this is an accurate or good way to talk about Russian people, but it gets waived away because of the silliness of it.
