        I shouldnt overstate, I study atmospheric chemistry not climate modeling. But according to the IPCC a business as usual approach (RCP8.5) would put us past 2°C already by 2050 (and towards several degrees by the end of the century).

        I don't know as much about the clathrate gun as I should but last I read about it, the finding was the effects had been overestimated. I'll check and get back to you. In any case the breathability of the air isn't really the problem. Methane is just 30x worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.
