It's still an inappropriate comparison to make, are you kidding. You can speak against ableism and lift disabled people's voices without bringing up indigenous people's struggles against white settlers.
The comparison was on the lines of language we choose to use and that being part of the oppressed group and be okay with hateful language doesn’t make it okay and isn’t an argument at all.
Not comparing the oppression of neurodivergent people with that of indigenous people. Also those groups have overlap and there voices matter.

You did lol. And I know they overlap, that's why I asked you if you were indigenous. If you're not then I recommend you avoid bringing up that point. The reasons the r*dskins logo is oppressive is completely different from ableist language, so wtf are you doing.
Idk, get better arguments? If you're not indigenous don't appropriate indigenous struggles?
I said “energy” as in being apart of an oppressed group and dismissing harmful language based on being part of the group doesn’t dismiss the harm of the language. I could’ve made that more clear, but one can make a comparison in part without it being about the whole.
We have to be more careful. I'm not completely dismissing your opinions on ableist language, but I believe that when we try to use other communities to explain ourselves we need to respect their struggles first.
I can see that. I guess it was the first and biggest example of using personal opinions on a matter of hate that I thought of.
Was not trying to play oppression olympics. Could have used numerous other examples or just explained myself instead using a comparison there. Thank you
The reason I brought it up is because I’m also trying to rid myself of this language and it would be good for all of us to reinforce the idea that we shouldn’t use it, but I guess a lot people see no problem with words like “insne and crzy.”
I don’t know if we ever need to be lenient on slurs. I guess I was lenient in my og comment. Asking them to please not use it, but that got downvoted so I wanted to bring it to the communities attention that we shouldn’t use those slurs. I reinforced the positive frame that they can do it.
Where as if someone were to use other slurs I would probably tell them to fuck off because everyone knows not to do that. I find it uneasy that people don’t see the harm of ableist language or maybe it’s just people don’t like being told they’re hurting others and they need to change in order to stop that harm.
Oh I get what you’re saying. Yeah I would agree an instaban isn’t needed, more if a mod sees it or it gets flagged send them a warning or temp ban. Good call.
As you may know, I am one of those people and I am not trying to enter the oppression olympics, in fact I would like to stay out of it if possible. I never even considered "insane" related to mental health until I got into circles like this.
This gave me the idea that we need some sort of writing workshop so people have an easier time expressing themselves on the internet. It's easier to avoid language like this if you have an easy time writing.
No need to compare how bad it is. Just that it’s not good to use ableist language and we should stop and the fact it doesn’t bother you personally is irrelevant to whether or not people should use it.
yes, it does sound similar doesn't it.
Because it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t matter....
this is just as important as a racial slur I suppose?

I still don't understand what was your need to type a racial slur.
There was no need for me to do that. I was writing as a quote that I’ve seen in numerous headlines. I apologize and edited.

Are you indigenous?
