Essentially there is a theory that posits that this particular sub went rogue (red October style) and attempted to start a global nuclear war between China, The USSR and the USA. It’s a pretty fascinating theory with some circumstantial evidence to back it up. Or back up the fact that something happened on that sub that was out of the ordinary.
