It was because they wanted to announce that they had this very cool new logo for one of the sites we run and as much people had to see it as possible.
So off we went.
They announced that this very cool new logo was designed by a very well known Italian designer company who absolutely know what the fuck they are doing and one of the bests at what they're doing so we gotta trust them, and they presented the new logo:
Which was COMPLETELY THE SAME AS THE ONE BEFORE except a square was fucking swapped to a circle.
And i could see the shock at some of the attendees face that basically said "these motherfuckers actually spent fucktons of money on this" but the presenter started this ten minute rant about how this actually represented the site's "personality" better.
God i fucking despise corporate culture.
Disclaimer: before saying don't dox myself, this didn't actually happen today. Not even this year.

There's definitely a name for the phenomenon but I can't recall it atm, where at the management level, people come in and as along as they don't take a shit on the boss's desk they will continually be promoted until they reach a level that their incompetence really affects the bottom line and then they just sit in that position until they retire.
Peter principle?
