I fucking WISH they merged their parties to create something like the Progressive-Socialist Party of America or something. In fact, had they done this like 1 year ago, they might have had a chance to get on all the states' ballots and reach 5%.
I mean one's a party of green capitalists and the other are newspaper pushing Trots. They're useful insofar as they've done the work of being oppo parties, but that's such a low fucking bar
Their parties don't need to merge, they need to run local candidates and take power. Coalitions can form over national elections.
I hate elections too, but there's no credibility in a party that can even win a town or a city. You gotta at least have a mayor. There's gotta be some geography to what we're talking about here-- otherwise your base and people might as well be ghosts or annoying internet notifications.
There's also the fact that local media HAS to pay attention to you once you have an office. You can push the newspaper from the Mayor's office or the Governor's mansion or whatever. I don't think the presidency is worth anything to a party with 0 reps or senators
Well I'm pretty sure they are more about being on the ground organizing people, not just getting some message across to the public. Especially with the fact that they basically wouldn't be allowed to be elected and all the media would talk about is how they're "evil dictator-worshipers" or something. Although it would be amazing if they got national attention even for a brief moment from some idiot Republicans by having someone actually elected say cool things to the press.
Frankly I'm not impressed by too many chapters of PSL or the Green Party. If that's what organizing is it's kind of a failed project. Local politicians can wield serious power.
I think you're probably underestimating the effort it takes to elect a Marxist-Leninist to public office in the United States and overestimating the effectiveness of that use of time for that purpose.

PSL is a revolutionary party, their main goal is not to take power in elections, although it seems like running local candidates would help.
