The only way out of this is a vaccine. You know Americans and the whole telling them to do anything. Good fucking luck. That could be the first speed bump of a dementia Biden Presidency. Convincing the nation of selfish assholes to get vaccinated while the right wing media tells everyone they're about to inject communism.
The masks are never going away, these weird half-restrictions and forced labor are here to stay too. Its not just covid, climate change will also push more and more animals closer to humans and there could be some ancient viruses locked in the permafrost waiting to be re-released.
The only way forward is to do what Vietnam and China cand and did do, or even just New Zealand, but that would require radical revolutionary change or a level of social democracy that late stage capitalism is unable to sustain.
doesn't work like that, ancient viruses wouldn't be able to affect humans for the most part. Viruses enter cells through receptors found on the cell membrane. An ancient virus would lack to "tools" to enter our cells and infect us.
Good point, what did china do in addition that made their lockdown work? That they did it proactively instead of reactively I guess. So if we just locked down all of March then

Well that's terrifying.

please stop with this reddit tier shit lol
I was half asleep last night. Yeah this make a lot more sense. What he said I am pretty sure was an episode of The X-Files.
Yeah I think that's more science fiction than reality.
That's really optimistic. A vaccine could just never be found...
Yeah I suppose that is dumb levels of optimism. I am googling articles. This shit could take years. Lmao. We're fucked. Sorry.

There's zero evidence herd immunity will work with this virus.
It's novel. That means we don't really understand how long immunity lasts or how quickly it mutates.
unfortunately it appears that "low prevalence of antibodies against the coronavirus and the rapid pace at which they had been shown to fall undermine the case for a herd immunity policy without a vaccine"

was just using the link provided in the original post but uh...duly noted
That's what's so frustrating to me. If we full on locked down back for all of April we could have fairly close to normal lives rn...
That's not true though. Look at Europe.

Who knows, we could get super lucky band have a vaccine next year. Shouldn't count on it tho
And again, even if we get one and it’s perfect... how many Americans just won’t get vaccinated anyways. Lol.
Yep... But that's their choice, let um die. It just sucks for the immune system compromised who would want it but can't
