Basically find a topic that your potential convert doesn't have complete knowledge of or just ask questions until the answer is "I don't know" and sow jesus seeds and hopefully get them to doubt their total knowledge as way of working the ground to make the seed grow.

I feel like this can be done without making the person feel like they have a hard time knowing things. I haven't figured it out though.

Yeah, this absolutely can work. If you want to see someone convince people to go vegan using exactly this method, check out Earthling Ed. The main thing he does that I think is key to the whole process is he treats everyone, even the shittiest carnist, with huge amounts of empathy. It's kind of amazing to watch. I've heard him called "Vegan Jesus" and that's absolutely accurate.

The whole treating the person you are talking to with respect is hard to get over if you think they are the cause of your problem. Of course, in ways they are. I just can't wish that away nor can I shout it away.

Oh sure, I agree. The thing is you're not arguing with billionaires, right? You're talking to normal people who are likely woefully ill-informed about why their lives are as they are.

What I guess I'm saying is that any person you talk to is not directly responsible for society being the way it is. Do most people help uphold the status quo? Yeah, absolutely, but you have to show them they don't have to do that, you know?

Just like if you're a vegan talking to a carnist, you could view them as evil for participating in a system that needlessly tortures and murders animals, and they do in fact participate in such a system, but it's because society shoves propaganda down people's throats because the animal ag industry is powerful.

Now I understand all this hypothetically, but when faced with a person who is racist, misogynist, homophobic, or loud about how much they like meat, yeah, it's really hard to not see them as the enemy. That's why I think someone like Ed is so admirable, honestly.
