Does anyone know any good games where you kill fascist CIA and US army scum? Ideally as a Marxist-Leninist freedom fighter or as a soldier of a socialist country. Otherwise, games where you fight US puppets like Israel as say a Palestinian freedom fighter are also more than welcome.

i recently watched a let's play of red alert 1 (been a minute since i played it) and boy howdy, the allied mission videos have very strong nazi vibes in places.

westwood made stalin comically evil (all that's missing is the big spoon) but they also made the allies pretty nazi. i dont think they did it consciously though, it's just their westoid brain scrambling things.

but they also made the allies pretty nazi.

Funniest thing is that it's kinda dialectical, Red Alert series start with assassination of Hitler when he comes out of prison in 1924, which wouldn't stop nazism, but shuffle its leadership maybe with someone less revanchist but still nazi. So the course in which the nazi Germany allies and finally unites with USA, UK and France against USSR is very probable especially it's exactly what west tried to do in our timeline.

yeah, the red alert allied timeline is what westoids have been wishing had actually happened. patton's "we fought the wrong enemy" quote and all that.

and of course they couldnt give stalin the victory on the soviet timeline, it had to be some kane bullshit.

It's a text based game from early 2000s, but liberal crime squad is one of my favs and made by bay12games (dwarf fortress). It's operating on several layers of irony but you get to take on cops, soldiers, middle managers, CEOs and kidnap justices and even visit the president. On the highest difficulty you start is a nearly fully fascist America and need to prevent conservative laws being passed via adventurism. Naturally you win when the people vote the conservatism away

    http://lcs.wikidot.com/start

It's been updated by some passionate fans here http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=ec71cafae4a2fde243c3562d9bcb9637&topic=159540.0

Welcome to Liberal Crime Squad! The Conservatives have taken the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government. Over time, the Liberal laws of this nation will erode and turn the country into a BACKWOODS YET CORPORATE NIGHTMARE. To prevent this from happening, the Liberal Crime Squad was established. The mood of the country is shifting, and we need to turn things around. Go out on the streets and indoctrinate Conservative automatons. That is, let them see their True Liberal Nature. Then arm them and send them forth to Stop Evil. Eventually the public will fall behind us, and we will put more Elite Liberals in government for greater justice.

Spec Ops: The Line is probably the first example that comes to mind.

They get a bad rap because of the sometimes fascist leaning fanbase, but paradox grand strategy games do let you play whatever side you want. Everytime I tried Hearts of Iron (admittedly my least favourite paradox game), I played as the USSR.

Some of the Metal Gear games, though that's still "the good americans vs the corrupt government" which isn't really ideal either.
Yakuza 3 features CIA as one of the villain factions.

interestingly, Yakuza 3 is also the "wokest" yakuza game in the franchise lol

      • a part of the main storyline deals with racism, with one of the girls (that kiryu adopted) outright saying she couldn't like this boy (also adopted by kiryu) because he's black, and in typical yakuza fashion, she'd later see the error of her ways.
      • a substory that essentially boils down to kiryu saying trans rights, though then again rgg studios also included a transphobic quest; but it's since been removed in the re-release. also i heard rumors that it was exclusive to the western release - the original japanese release apparently didn't have it lmao

all this in a game released in 2009. imagine that lmao. if you put any of this in recent games chuddies would hue and cry about "forced diversity and wokeist propaganda being shoved down their throats"

Red Orchestra 2 is about killing americans I believe.

Red Orchestra 2 is about the Great Patriotic War, where you can play as the Red Army against the Wehrmacht. You are probably thinking about Rising Storm 2, from the same publisher, where you can play as North Vietnam against the US invaders.

Sniper Elite 4 has a skin where you can be an italian partisan woman.

It also has a skin with a Nazi officer. From SS if I'm not mistaken.

Prototype was a sort of spider-man like game, but you could just go murder the army

Lmao I did that. There's a funny thing you can do:

      • steal the visage of a blackwatch officer

      • locate military base

      • move to high ground overlooking said base

      • call in the airstrike

      • enjoy

Payday 2. Do all of the heists that don't have a "break stealth and instafail" stipulation as loud as possible, with either Razormind or I Will Give You My All 2017 as the heist BGM, and mulch as many pigs as you can. Yeah, they're cops rather than full-on military; but they DO pull up with enough special units to make one question if the police and the military in PD2 are just fused together.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus and Fursan al-Aqsa. There's also Soldier of Fortune: Platinum Edition, while you do play as a PMC chud, you do get to fill up the morgues of NYC with neo-Nazis in two chapters with two Boers as the main villains. Also from the word go, you do at least get to remove a Nazi's face with a SPAS-12 at point-blank.

And sometimes even Minecraft when some kid builds a definetely not a swastika next to the Ukrainian flag in their base, so you spawncamp them and steal all their diamonds.

Has a really good mood (RevDCM) that makes the game more dynamic by introducing civil wars, revolutions and the ability of new civilizations to organize out of "barbarians."

Similar mods for other civs always feel less full featured.

Mechanically, I also came to dislike some stuff in later civ games, or at least some stuff "lost it's shine". Like 1 unit per tile.

Was combining units an expansion? When I played it was only 1 military unit plus 1 civilian unit per tile (and up to four aerial units iirc).

I thought the tactics could be fun, but I prefer the management aspects of civ and it got kinda exhausting moving large militaries.

Stacks of doom also have big issues tho, ngl.

Different topic: Another mechanic civ4 came kinda close to getting right was corporations (since they theoretically encouraged hogging/expropriating resources far in excess of what your civ needs), but I don't think they quite worked out as well in practice. Not sure if there's a good mod for that.

If you only want to play vanilla or some light workshop mods i prefer Civ 6, communism is OP there and there are some decent USSR mods on steam

if you're into total conversions, nothing can beat Civ 4, some of the mods are incredible, my favourite is the Dune mod which is actually the best Dune game ever made.

Also nostalgia, Civ 4 is the last one with squares and not hexes and the classic looks of map and interface.

It doesn't really focus on killing enemies, but you can build communism somewhere in the world and squash the imperial ambitions of the US while also pushing the empires into decline.

Play as Britain, stop the US from expanding West while slowly guiding the UK towards a proletarian revolution.

      "comrade"

guy doesn't support LGBT as a muslim, insinuating that being muslim must mean you have to be anti-LGBT; also has called LGBT a "lifestyle"

      Show

he doesn't want democracy (hopefully by that he means western bougie democracy, ugh); wants sharia and an islamic caliphate

      Show

thinks "islamic" monarchies are better than western style democracy (even though both are bad)

      Show

lmfao, reminds me of people going "capitalism may be ruining and destroying our lives but it's still a good, working ideology"

more anti-lgbt nonsense, about how gay things are admonished by ALL religions in the world and is somehow against muh human natoor (living in concrete, eating modern food, playing video games+making them is also against human natoor, you dipshit), using reich-wing language like "pro-LGBT propaganda", implying LGBT is le western culture even though historically every place in the world had their own unique queer culture that the western world has violently destroyed because "it's against human natoor and a crime committed against nature"

      Show

though tbf even i felt the pro-lgbt message in qatar felt a bit forced

this guy is anything but a comrade imo, especially with him expressing his wishes for a religious caliphate with religious laws.

here's his comments section, for what it's worth (cw: reactionary bile, it is a steam comment's section after all)

i wonder what all the pro-lgbt/lgbt-neutral muslims here have to say about this

I’ll never understand the anti-gay argument that it’s against human nature. You can’t say other animals aren’t gay, Sea Lions and Giraffes and Bonobos have plenty of gay sex, Rams too, why is the line drawn at humans? Like it goes beyond HUMAN nature, it’s literally just nature

        • albigu@lemmygrad.ml
          ·

Even in a vacuum, "human nature" arguments for individuals make very little sense against things humans already do or want to do. Here we have humans which are pretty natural doing that very same thing, so in order for them to not obey "human nature" they'd need to have been influenced by space aliens or something.

Obviously Nazis effectively already believe that, but it's odd how "well meaning" libs often fall into that same trap.

        • redtea@lemmygrad.ml
          ·

Might be because the reactionary version of human nature is the official kind of human nature of the west during early to mid capitalism, which is then universalised. Not only are they not considering your point, they're also ignoring that fact that for most of human history, it's been 'human nature' to be quite gay. Or at least to be very close roommates.

it's still dumb to conflate social progressivism (queer rights and womens rights) with usanian imperialism

queer people like me in the global south, particularly in muslim-majority countries are forced to flee their own homeland because of this, because they'd rather see our heads on a pike than leave us alone and live. even without the conflation with usanian imperialism, some of them try to use religion to try justify this and demonize us.
