I've been watching a lot of philosophy tube, and some others, lately. And for the most part I really like them. However I've seen a bit of hate for them here. Am I missing something? Is criticism more directed at their the chunk of their fans who only pay lip service to the ideas they present or is actually a problem with the creators. Edit: Or maybe I miss read everything and this community doesn't have a problem with them at all. Edit 2: Thanks for the responses and other places to look. Like I said I've mostly been watching philosophy tube (who maybe subtly calls for violent uprising but he still does) and just dipping my toes into the others, looks like I'll skip most of the other channels. As far as being radicalized I'm there already, I just really like the presentation of what I've watched so far. And its given me something to send to my brother who has been mildly interested but is pretty damn far from radical.

What everyone else already said. But also, there really are some very good breadtubers and some very... liberal breadtubers. Breadtube is a spectrum, not a monolith. I think most people here like Philosophy Tube, myself included. I also really like Thought Slime, Luna Oi, Non Compete, Angie Speaks, and of course Shaun. And a bunch more that aren't immediately coming to mind. Oh, BadMouse was really good too, but he's gone off the youtube grid.

Some started out very promising, but have just gone further and further downhill (and by that I mean towards the right), as they gained more popularity and the resulting status and wealth. Contrapoints being the prime example there. And some were shitlibs from the very beginning, like Lindsay Ellis who is deservedly the one getting the vast amount of hate here.

You can skip or watch as you see fit of course, but I'd recommend watching whatever looks interesting and seeing if you can spot the accumulating bad takes. Just make sure you also (pretend) to read actual theory too to gird yourself against libification.

And let me add one more thing: there needs to be a lot more actual leftist thought and analysis on youtube. Pipelines are real and I'd love to see more of them that carry people all the way, rather than part of the way, then dumping them off well short of revolutionary politics. A big part of the problem with breadtube is that because it doesn't go far enough left, it leaves a lot of people with the impression that that is as far as it goes, you know?

There will always be a spectrum, so lets make sure it extends as far left as is possible on any given platform.

Luna is very good for the lib to left pipeline.
