was happy to have brought in 10 of those at least, and whatever its shortcomings might be I have hope we can actually put together a real leftist movement and establish some actual socialist political power over the next few years
I know a bunch of you piss and shit yourself about how the DSA is bad, but it's actually good.
Its interesting how stark a difference there is between people who actually organize irl vs terminally online leftists. theres lots of valid criticisms, but peoples understanding of dsa is so weirdly skewed tbh, and often conflating things to have it represent the entire org and everything it stands for. Either way, get involved, if not with dsa with another org, but you'll get more knowledgeable on these things. Its a LOT of work, and people are honestly very condescending towards tens of thousands of comrades volunteering their time to actually do the work necessary to build a mass socialist movement here.
But it's not a socialist movement they are building, it's a capitalist reformist movement.
Yeah its all completely private. When you sign up you can choose not to receive mail too if you don't want that coming in.
There's a few national marxist caucuses and groups that I know of otherwise

These are the local chapter communist caucuses I know of

Thats a good question lol, idk if there's a list or anything, googling is probably the easiest way. Working groups and committees though are what you can join in your chapter or nationally to work on actual campaigns. Caucuses are more supplementary and do more political education or specific organizational work within dsa as opposed to running their own campaigns usually. Its good for meeting comrades and building influence within DSA. I recommend everyone try to get involved and join either a local or national marxist caucus.
Can you do a run down of the differing approaches the various national caucuses have? They all seem pretty based but for a couple it's hard to tell why they've not merged.
im actually not 100% on it, i suppose they concentrate on different approaches to what we should do? caucuses push agendas and garner influence within the org, as elected npcs are often affiliated through them.
NYC DSA is pulling through. I think combined with the YDSA chapters in the city, we should get over 1000 new members by the end of the drive.
LA is kicking our ass tho smh lol. I think we technically missed our goal, we're at about 90% right now and I think the drive technically ended today?
the drive was from october 1 to november 7, but i suppose its gonna go on with how well its been going lol
I legit joined as a result of reading this post, so good job my friend
eyyyyy welcome comrade! i recommend looking up your local chapter and attending any upcoming chapter or national stream or meeting for new members
If you don't mind which city? It's very hard to remove a chapter but other chapters can pressure/try and contact people running a crappy chapter and get it changed. DM me if you want. Most of the chapters I'm in contact with explicitly put out statements about not campaigning for Biden and only for our endorsed candidates.
My local DSA call said we were around 8k, so we really should make an effort to be up-to-date.
Noice :fidel-salute-big:
maybe remove id info referral/state/ precise numbers:)
DSA precise numbers are public, get issued in a public newsletter every month. The referral idk how much info that leaks actually, but the whole link is not posted.
Can't wait for them to spin towards neoliberalism too when they're influential enough. Like everything does because when poisoned by capital.
