I used to be a Game Master, this is only true if the threat is credible (they check chat logs back multiple days looking for warning signs), but if it is it does happen.

Pretty fucked up, the protocol was to escalate them to a more senior GM. My old boss had multiple stories of having wellness checks performed and the cops finding guns the kids had stolen/hidden.
