I have an English degree and my career prospects are seemingly entirely oriented around working for finance, fossil fuels, big tech or defense industries. Is there really no ethical career path for me?

I'm already all the way there but I don't have blue hair or say the n-word so I can't get paid for it.

Same, and I teach. It doesn’t pay and we’re seen as expendable grunts by admin. Still probably better than working for imperialist or leeches.

      No but that’s capitalism.

Don’t let that be an excuse for being evil, but don’t hate yourself for having to work.

It means that you have to work and that's okay, but you still have choices. You don't have to go work for Uber or Amazon, you have options.

I've thought about it but I'm socially awkward as hell, the kids would eat me alive.

Become an English teacher in China, that way you can chalk it up to cultural differences and also avoid the disaster that will be the west in the coming decades

I've thought about teaching abroad but it's like kinda weird optics for a white guy to go an Asian country to become an "English teacher", which from what I've heard mostly entails just standing around and barely doing anything. But like it's not like there are other great prospects either.

I have never heard that. I was under the impression that it's pretty common. A user on the old sub was one and had videos on youtube of him teaching his class and it seemed pretty normal to me. A white guy moving to SEA looks a bit sus though, especially Thailand and the Philippines. I'd move to China of I had skills that they need.
