I used to think lotion couldn't smell good. My mom would have us put 'bag balm' (cow udder vaseline stuff) on our hands, and put socks on them before we went to bed. It worked great on cracked skin, though.
I found putting lotion on before my gloves while leaving the house works great too.
Make sure to moisturize, cracked and dried out skin creates openings for nasties like covid
