          as this interminably long year slowly dwindles its ashen way down the dark spiral of wintertime consumerism, i am left wondering how anyone is meant to get smoochins from comrades, whether beneath a decorative sprig of berry-laden parasitic-plant, as an exuberant result of alcohol spiked with eggnog, or whatever other festive occurance. to say nothing of the unlikelihood the new year has of starting with kisses
