"He was a Human Rights Watch Lobbyist"
wow he worked for the org that said the chilean protest were funded by maduro and cuba, that inspires so much confidence, thank you social imperialist ryan grim
He was also in charge of the org within the state department that oversees all the various "human rights" and foreign labor programs for them during the Obama years.
Also Cuba had a clear role in the rise of the pink tide, don't say that last sentence like it's remotely a bad thing even if it were true.
Also Cuba had a clear role in the rise of the pink tide
yeah, but human rights watch said the protests against piñera were because of cuban and venezuelan funding protesters, i wish it was true but its just a HR org trying to de-legitimize a mass movement
NJ-07 includes Short Hills, NJ and is one of the most affluent districts in the country and is a bunch of lawyers and Wall St assholes - rt 78 goes straight to the Holland Tunnel and all the dads sit in rush hour listening to either Michael Savage or npr (read: exactly the same thing). Calling it a swing district, which I guess is true insofar as Leonard Lance held the seat two years ago, mostly shows how fucking little the difference is between the two parties.
edit: in the past 100 years, there have been maybe 2 democrats from NJ-07, depending on how you look at redistricting
It's also NJ which has a lot of Catholics and Jews who are within the region often ancestrally democratic voters regardless of economic background. North east Republicans tended to be "wasps".
It also includes a number of more middle of the road/working class communities in union and summerset county.
The wealthier communities within this district are still voting Republican unless they're majority one of the few ancestrally democratic ethnic groups.
If you haven't caught on, Ryan Grim typifies the editorial line at the Intercept. Liberal imperialism dressed in a left counter-culture aesthetic
