NJ-07 includes Short Hills, NJ and is one of the most affluent districts in the country and is a bunch of lawyers and Wall St assholes - rt 78 goes straight to the Holland Tunnel and all the dads sit in rush hour listening to either Michael Savage or npr (read: exactly the same thing). Calling it a swing district, which I guess is true insofar as Leonard Lance held the seat two years ago, mostly shows how fucking little the difference is between the two parties.

edit: in the past 100 years, there have been maybe 2 democrats from NJ-07, depending on how you look at redistricting

It's also NJ which has a lot of Catholics and Jews who are within the region often ancestrally democratic voters regardless of economic background. North east Republicans tended to be "wasps".

It also includes a number of more middle of the road/working class communities in union and summerset county.

The wealthier communities within this district are still voting Republican unless they're majority one of the few ancestrally democratic ethnic groups.
