From what I know, their main cause is overall just and they have done good work infiltrating places with hidden cameras and recording/exposing animal cruelty...
...But their publicity stunts, probably the big thing they're known for these days, are almost always stupid and imo do more harm than good by turning potentially sympathetic people against them, and possibly by extension animal rights.
They're good. Almost everything people hate them for is complete bullshit. They do good work for a good cause.
Lmao you got downvoted when you're right.
All the claims against PETA (they have all kill shelters, they once killed a family pet, they've killed more animals than x, etc) come almost exclusively from "the Center for Consumer Freedom" which is a Libertarian think tank that's heavily funded by the meat and restaurant industries. The website PETA kills Animals comes from them. They got caught running 800 reddit accounts just to post nonsense about PETA.
PETA isn't a perfect - there's a reason I support the ALF not them - but they're a lot better than people think because of the astroturfing.
Also the person (Rich Berman) behind 'PETA Kills Animal' also funds a think tank called 'Center For Union Facts' . Which argues that 'argues that unions are corrupt and bad for workers.' Not say I've made the deep dive into PETA but that should make one immediately suspicious.
