I named him after Michael Brooks. Also this is showing up as sideways but it isn’t sideways on my phone and I’m too boomer to figure out how to fix the picture on here.
You rescued him and going by that stoic look in his eyes I'm sure he will return the favor in the future.
He knows the responsibility he will bare and is not backing down. We can all learn from him.
:michael-laugh:
Great name by the way. Not laughing at him Just honoring Micheal Brooks the only way I know how.
Yeah I was between like 20 different options and once I came up with this one, none of the others mattered because this was perfect.
He is small and adorable I'm glad you found him :heart-sickle:
Chapo autorotates things for some reason, I've taken to copying and rotating my pictures in each direction after the preview to find out what direction it wants to take today.

Okay! He’s three months old so still small ❤️
If anyone has any tips for me, my older cat is mad jealous. I’ve been making sure to play with her and cuddle her lots but she’s mad at me. And they are separated for now so they can get used to each other.
There's a lot to take into account and a whole process to introducing cats to one another, and it's pretty important to get it right because it can effect their relationship for years to come. There are a bunch of vids on youtube for how to go about it, but I think this one is pretty good if I'm remembering the right one.
I forgot all about this guy! I just watched this video and that was great. So far, Brooks is ready to go out of the room and was during the first half hour of being here and he’s been pretty confident. My other cat, Yeeko, has been a little apprehensive about the door Brooks is behind. But she did see him once when I was bringing him in in the carrier and then once when he escaped the room (she hissed at him). But I am pretty sure I can fo everything he mentions. Lucky for me and them that I have the next week off because of the holiday and hour cuts so I can help monitor everything.
Yeah, he's a funny guy, quite a character, and he really does have some great advice on living with and loving cats. That actually wasn't the video I was thinking of (I just skimmed a little bit of it), but it still covers the important stuff like slow and repeated introductions where neither cat feels forced or without escape/recourse. (Edit: And smell... letting them each get used to the other's scent before a full in-person introduction is essential). But yeah, I'm sure no harm was done by the brief encounter and hissing, and it's great that you have some time to do the piecemeal introductions which in my experience makes all the difference. It's also great to hear that Brooks is already so confident. 😺 He's lucky he found you! Hopefully Yeeko (great name heh) will come to agree, given a little time.
It's awesome that you rescued him, and since you already have Yeeko, I'm sure you know how rewarding being a cat caretaker can be. Personally, my small 4-legged family is one of the only reasons I think I still have some semblance of sanity in this hellworld.
Absolutely understand how awesome it is. I don’t plan on getting any more cats but my hope for her is that she can make a friend because I think she needs one. She has bad separation anxiety now that quarantine has been “over” by which I mean I can go back to work again and has been showing signs of depression as well because I’m just really busy between school and work. Despite my best efforts, she just really seems to need the company. So I want to do this right!
She found me last year on the street and just decided she was going to live with me when she wasn’t too much older than Brooks. They were also found in the same neighborhood and look exactly alike. There’s a colony of cow cats here (that’s what they both are by their markings) and so she’s probably somewhat related to him lol.
A kitten followed me off the streets and is now my cat. My sister's cat and my dad's cat were not happy.
Make sure you play with Brooks because he might try playing with your other cat which might cause friction. Also make sure your other cat is well fed, with my dad's cat she often gets hangry and picks fights with anyone. If she is well fed then she let's a lot of things slide.
My cat when I first found her she couldn't do body heat so I put her on my chest to keep her warm at night. I know maybe I shouldn't have done that but I didn't want her freezing. I think eventually she picked up some of my scent and the other cats tolerated her like they do me.
I’m not sure I can sleep with the new kitten quite yet because my other kitty sleeps with me every night. She’s so attached that she goes to bed when I go to bed and waits for me to wake up so she can cuddle me. But he’s got a very spacious room that’s dedicated to him and him and has his litter, food and water there too since my roommate moved out and I got a spare room. I’ll make sure the heat is up tonight to help him stay warm.
Thank you for the tip on feeding and playing! I’ve been playing with him lots since he’s full of energy. She gets hangry a lot. She’s a little overweight and I’m trying to help her lose but I’ll probably just keep her bowl full for the beginning stages to keep her happy then. Because I’m pretty sure she’d beat his ass and I don’t want that.
Oh and also before I forget the cats will have their territories around the house.
My cat sleeps either in my room or the bathroom, my sister's either in her room or the living room, and my dad's in his room specifically on his bed still. Try not to take a cat someplace that the other cat has claimed or otherwise they might get nervous and book it.
If you want to break up a territory then you have to clean everything regularly just don't use anything to harsh. My sister regularly cleans her sheets and when she does her bed is pretty much up for grabs to whoever can get there first.
Maybe also get Brooks some boxes he can play with and retreat into if he feels threaten. Take advantage of his smaller size and make box openings that only he can fit in.
I'm no cat expert really just trying to give some experiences I went through and wish I knew before hand.
Brooks is such an awesome name for this sweetie boy. Rest In Power Michael
:heart-sickle:
I do, except Yeeko who goes out on a harness with me to help keep her sane. Which she doesn’t like but has gotten used to lol.
that's so adorably sweet. i miss Michael Brooks a lot, he really knew how to motivate people to think more globally for leftist solidarity. most of us live in america which is so incredibly american-centric that it completely warps peoples understanding how big of a project that is. it's a good message that a lot of people could take more to heart in my opinion.
beautiful cat btw, i like how he is wearing earmuffs.
Don't doxx your cat, always use a nickname.
No, I won't tell you "Mayhem"'s real name.
"Brooks" is very cute.
