For what countries laws? He’s not a Ukrainian citizen

So if you’re not an American you’re free to sabotage the US as much as you want and it’s not a crime?

This doesn't even make sense. He is an American and he didn't sabotage the US in any way. You can argue he "sabotaged" Ukraine, but that's not the US.

How are these people this stupid?

They're true liberals who hate Russia with the fire of a thousand burning suns, because they earnestly believe Russia was far more culpable in Trump becoming president than Clinton's own hubris

So they want to punish Russia until the end of time for that 'incivility' being foisted on them, reason be damned

General Russophobia yeah, especially the lasting legacy of the Cold War. But you have to remember in 2012 Obama called out Romney for saying Russia is "our number one geopolitical foe", something I'm sure Democrats today 100% agree with. They did a complete flip in 2016 because it broke their brains.

Musk is a war criminal. This is a crime against humanity.

Musk is a war criminal for not wanting to help escalate a conflict that could go nuclear.

Don't get me wrong I wish Musk would trip into a volcano but this is actually a good thing

Edit: Another banger holy shit lol

Yeah, in the mid 90s the world was so optimistic about Russia, and frankly reassured about the nukes going to Russia, which was believed to be the more confidently governed nation state.

Everyone was still riding high on the cold war seemingly coming to a close.

Really shows how libs view this war. It is a US war, to the point that going against Ukraine is treason against the US, except when "their team" does bad things, then the US isn't involved whatsoever.

The well was fundamentally poisoned when it came to implementing “democracy” in post-Soviet states; if the idea was, no more communist totalitarianism, no more state party, you can pick from multiple parties, that runs into a self-defeating issue for liberalism if the people just end up voting for the communist party. So they implemented de facto, or just outright explicit, bans on the communist party from gaining power. Being rigged was baked in.

Elon is not the president, a leader, the military, nor a government. This parasite should be in a prison or a brig at the very least. This is fucking treason.

How, how could it possibly be treason?! Elon is not a Ukrainian citizen and Russia isn't at war with the US, South Africa, or Canada (apparently he's a Canadian citizen too).

Billionaires should share and facilitate our bloodlust for nuclear catastrophe.

But calling for billionaires and other wealthy, elite capitalists—a small percentage of humanity—to be REDACTED for the sake of humanity itself is too extreme.

That’s what irks me the most about these takes, they want the rhetorical weight of “war criminal! traitor!” but then don’t want to back that rhetoric up with the legal consequences for being a war criminal/traitor.

They'd rather focus on fighting China. Libs love rallying up Europe and trying to maintain the complex network of vassal states and diplomatic relations, reactionaries see the writing on the wall and would rather pivot to a conflict with the direct competition. Also doesn't help that Putin has pretty successfully sold himself as a traditionalist, as opposed to the "progressive" West (literally arming Nazis but it's ok because they have a trans spokeswoman!!! wholesome)

For libs, attacking Russia is subconsciously attacking the GOP. Visa versa for conservatives and China. Neocons are at a loss because the US can't unite against a big bad because they can't agree who the big bad is.

FWIW many conservatives do admire Russian reactionary politics despite it being the logical conclusion of neoliberal politics. And many liberals do want conflict with China, they just want it with Russia more.

Aside from focusing on their culture war and China, Russia is itself a reactionary state that they probably believe helped get Trump elected (thinking that's a good thing ofc). Plus Democrats support it, so it must be bad. And maybe a bit of revenge for Zelenskyy not giving Trump dirt on Biden.
