Trying to work with Biden to stop climate change? Sure, dude, I get it. But now praising people like John Kerry like they're some climate warriors? Like, why???

It's really depressing that shit like this happens to every god damn person/organization that gets even a second to sit at the table with the powerful (I know this is just one small interaction, but they've been acting like this for a while now).

climate crisis is an "urgent national security threat". this just sounds like an opening for more Liz Warren green military bullshit. what about the climate crisis as a fucking existential threat to all life on the planet?

Talking about climate change solely as a matter of national security is so beyond fucked up.

American citizens: Help our crops are failing and Arizone reaches 150º Farenheit at night.

American government: We've bulldozed residential areas a little farther off the coast to make a new Navy port in 50 years.

You're saying decentralized movementism degenerated into neoliberalism again? Who could have predicted this?

If you're framing potential apocalypse as a "national security threat" then no you have not even the remotest fucking idea what we're up against and what's required to deal with it.

Talking about potentially billions of deaths in the next century as if he's ginning up support for invading and occupying some failed state with a dictator we installed, fucking pathetic.

That's not how the military would approach climate change.

The military would instead, be building more walls and pushing for broader border security and preparations against potential migrants (MORE funding to ICE, MORE funding to DHS, etc etc). The whole idea of the military handling climate change is to paint migrants out as a threat and prevent them from entering the country and leaving them to die elsewhere. Further more, they would be protecting US interests across the world in fossil fuels and raw minerals.

If anything, the military will be occupying the US, which is the same result if they are ever handed the keys to deal with the pandemic we're in right now. A truly terrifying, and scary as shit scenario that few people aren't really talking about.

I’m waiting to see if this is just a PR thing to get the Corp Dems off their back before I declare Sunrise dead and libified.

From everything I’ve read it appears Biden and his team want to use any sort of “uncivil” action to decrepit any major leftish org so I can see them just saying this to get the heat off.

It's a pretty scary thought of one political party attempting to frame climate change as a solution for the military.
