I commented, "no problem, sis" in response to a Black girl thanking me for sending her a link a few weeks ago. After a few minutes I realized that was probably really stupid to say and I should feel bad.
Yeah, white leftists still have internalized race insensitivity that we need to work on, and I admit when I fuck up and want to do better. Liberals and chuds lack the awareness to do so.
in spanish latin-america we were under a caste rule during the colonial era, that lead to colorism were the whiter you look the better privileges you had, so the white latin-americans and the white passing mestizos had more power that the other mestizos, the indiginous and the afro descendants
That's awesome that your mom is there to help with that stuff, lol. The media likes to treat POC communities as blocs or monoliths that all believe and think the same way, and it's gotta be frustrating having all of these influences trying to make up your mind for you from the outside. Especially democrats, who I've seen many instances of libs telling black people that they're dumb for not voting Democrat when they're "the party of people of color and the oppressed," despite locking up of people of color at just as high a rate as republicans.

Then I'm doubly glad you've been able to build a relationship with her and learn from her, that's really awesome.
