I don't even know what they're called, but I want to start a !cars. Because it would be so great to have a leftist space for car enthusiasts. Any time anything political comes up, you just get horribly out-of-touch hatred getting spewed everywhere in the comments section. People that have enough money to buy a corvette or used 911 tend to lean conservative.

Expensive as fuck. There are other options though, like natural gas or bio diesel conversions.

it's not necessarily thaaaat expensive. Rich Rebuilds on youtube is doing a "cheap" electric (new) mini project and is aiming to be under 5k for the whole thing. some of it would be pretty hard to replicate because he does find an absolute steal on an old Zilla controller and lots of other stuff but if you do as he says and shop EV classifieds you can find people letting go of their projects for pennies on the dollar, usually just because they lost interest/drive with the project

I've heard of bio diesel conversion and sort of understand it, but how do you get a car to run on natural gas?

Electric cars are still bad though. I'd imagine it be cheaper to just buy an electric car from the get go if you need a car.

Just gonna pop this in hereeeee http://www.evfinder.com/classifieds.htm

Also, conversions are a lot of work that you basically have to do yourself, but the nice thing about DIYing an EV is once you get over the hump of understanding battery systems and dynamics you can design the car to meet your actual needs; like if you have a 5 mile commute in LA you can make a really usable city car for suuuuuper cheap

It sucks that people do that within earshot of your home, but not all car enthusiasts are irresponsible jerks. Also, the people doing it would probably like to be doing it somewhere they're not bothering people but drag strips aren't as plentiful as they used to be and have kinda changed into higher performance higher safety and higher barrier to entry places where you can't just add horsepower to your normal car and go vroom.

are you seriously having a problem with people because they evade the police?????

The backfiring sounding stuff is colloquially called "2-step" and a lot of people really like hearing it, at least when it's well executed, and the bass is probably also something they're just doing for their own enjoyment. The fact that they do both of these things in a residential neighborhood is probably unrelated to how annoying it is for the neighbors. But you might be right, they might be doing it to annoy you on purpose; and then you have to ask yourself what it is about your neighborhood that makes you a target to be annoyed.

I'm really not; I just think you need to consider that these people aren't doing it just to bug you, and if they are, it's probably for a reason that might be completely unrelated to you
