Hey guys I just need some good book recommendations. I was in a class and someone asked me what books I read about history since I critiqued what we learn in schools. The only problem is I haven't read that many. So I'm asking my fellow Chapos to assist me in finding good history topics about race, gender, and general history. I appreciate all suggestions and free pdfs would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Feel free to bully me if there is already a resource posted somewhere on this.

Some of my favorite history books which are more fun:

October by China Mieville: the story of the Bolshevik revolution told almost like a novel

Atomic Accidents and Atomic Adventures by James Mahaffey: all the dumb shit that people have done with radioactive elements that got them killed, and all the crazy projects dreamed up by dead-eyed psychopaths during the Cold War

The Alcoholic Republic by William J. Rorabaugh: the history of Americans being drunken idiots

    US History specific:

    Lies My Teacher Told Me

    A People's History by Zinn

    A Different Mirror by Takaki

That should be plenty to keep you busy.

    Someone will say Settlers
