I mean if Santa Claus were real and immortal he would have been born centuries ago and survived multiple plagues, including the "Spanish flu", black death, red death, etc. Unless of course we're dealing with the Santa Clause version of the character who can die at any time but someone else always takes his place and is transformed into his likeness.

Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure the reason Fauci is saying this is because he doesn't want people to not do holiday shopping (even if more of it is done through online shopping, with delivery handled by UPS/Amazon/etc.) because the economy shitting the bed with no seasonal boost to GDP means more people die faster from lapsed health insurance and evictions when using corporate/wealthy taxes to pay for people to be alive without having to go out and work isn't an option.
