Obviously the main plot has pretty decent politics, but it just struck me how basically everyone in the Capitol is queer coded in one way or another. Are they attempting to say something with this, and if so what, or am I reading too much into it?

    to me, it was a reference to the somewhat effeminate/dainty/(don't know another word) ancient roman aristocracy. but, yes, i see exactly what you're getting at.

    Like half the Hunger Games is queer coded, which is astounding and almost impressive for a series with no canon queer characters (excluding 1-2 side characters in the prequel book)

    I love that post from Tumblr where they discuss back in the French revolution the rich were easily identifiable with huge wigs and colourful outfits.

    Now Jeff Bezos wears a grey t-shirt and shorts with a baseball cap.
