    Americas shitty lockdowns aren’t even lockdowns. We could have killed off this virus in six weeks with a real lockdown in March but no one in this country is capable of rational leadership.

    The right is correct that the constitution doesn’t give the federal government the power to institute a national lockdown, but the conclusion actually is that American style government is completely unequipped for the 21st century and has been structured to ignore its own populations’ problems in favor of maintaining its global hegemony.

      Yep, 100%. And in my experience, when you bring this up, that's when Americans downplay how deadly this virus is. Because they would rather let hundred of thousands die than admit our system is bad and is in need of a massive overhaul.

          canada's situation is so frustrating because at the start we were doing sort of the right thing with the lockdown and cerb payments but then they just stopped and now the government's entire response is just 'chastise people who went to bars'
