After i graduate i want to get a pair of large dogs, probably rhodesian ridgebacks (i hate the name though) bc they fit my lifestyle.
Idk why but I felt like sharing this: I grew up with a Fila Brasilera, if you don't know what that is pls look up images, generally considered a scary dog it was really weird though I could stick my head in her mouth when I was little and routinely would put my hands in her mouth bc with fetch she never really got the drop part of fetching bdown and bc i was family she did not care that I would do that and she was super good with her "family" which was anyone she met the first nine months of her life. We had her for about 11 years and she was fantastic with those she met before that nine month mark and remembered them. Our neighbors knew her for like 10 years, they moved in around the 11 month mark. She never got used to them, absolutely hated them. My cousins she met when she was like 5 months old, didn't see them for 4 years. She was completely fine with them. She was definitely weird. Huge dog, probably ~120 lbs give or take 10 lbs.
i swear to god i though rhodesian ridgebacks were a kind of dragon from harry botter
pretty much i think she called them hungarian or norwegian or something like that
I absolutely love big dogs and I need one to jump on me right now
if you hate the name of the breed you could just call them dogs
Or get the mixes and just tell people that they're muttsies.
Paraphrasing the great poet, Sir Mix-A-Lot, I like big mutts and I cannot lie…
have you checked tibetan mastiffs? i mean i bet they are a handful but just look at them, ok?
Aw yeah they're so cool but I'm pretty sure they're too smart and bc of that kinda difficult to train, and tbh I can't have a dog smarter than me and that's kind of a low bar to clear
Knew a guy with two wolfhounds. Good dogs, but he had nothing on his shelves below three feet because of the tails.
Ha! Her tail was like a whip, I remember getting knocked over by it a couple times when I was really young
my dream dog would be a big, fluffy newfoundland that would cuddle in bed with me every night
It's somewhat unlikely but is she a brazilian mastiff/great dane mix? Brazilian mastiffs are better known as fila brasileras but bc of their size their size and temperament they are kinda almost "rebranded" as brazilian mastiffs and that's what they labeled the mix that my dog was.
My gf has a ridgeback. Very cute and loving dog. Hilariously people are scared of her (I guess she looks a little scary? If you're afraid of dogs anyway). She would hurt a fly but that's about it - supposedly a dog bred to take down lions and shit and she just slaps flies then barks at the corpse.
you can find some quality dogs on the internet
why not call them Zimbabwe Hounds?
