Damn exactly at the title length limit.
Hot chocolate is:
- 1-2 TB butter
- Some flour ;) (roughly 0.5 TB) Browned and cooked together
- 0.75-1.25 cups Milk Stirred in quickly
- 2-4 TB Cocoa Powder
- Pinch salt (or more for salted chocolate)
- Sugar to taste And optionally (good w/o if you don't have)
- splash of vanilla
- some chocolate chips
- brandy? vodka? whiskey?
This motherfucker is drinking chocolate bechamel :controversial-yet-brave:
roux for hot chocolate?
Why not a cornstarch slurry?
That sounds more like pan gravy, imo.
does the flour/fat give it a savory taste?
cornstarch slurry has always ended up sort of grainy and lumpy for me. I am a big fan of this one salted browned butter chocolate bar I found over the Summer and generally like fattier sweets since I am diabetic and it blunts the impact too.
Exciting! Let me know how it turns out and if you have any suggestions. If you go light on the salt, it is also really good with cinnamon (and cayenne for 'mexican' hot chocolate)
