3D movies, I remember everyone being so excited for shit like Avatar because it was a 3D movie without the dumb red and blue lenses. Then it turned out to just give you vertigo.

Or even 4K TV. Like it looks marginally better if your face is jammed into the screen, but all it really does is suck up way more bandwidth and cost $400 more.

    KONY 2012? in hind sight that was a pretty embarrassing moment for me, because i put in a decent amount of energy (thankfully no money though). I was in my baby activist stage and fine with latching onto what was hip.

    oh also around that time, stanning Aung San Suu Kyi as a #girlboss because the myanmar govt had put her on house arrest. now i wish she would have stayed there. even at the time we knew about what was happening with the rohingya, so it wasn't necessarily just her, but still...

      Ah, KONY 2012, one of the classic grifts. Would've been hilarious if he actually beat Obama and Romney though

      I realize it was a slightly different time when everyone was just a little less overstimulated and deadened to constant emotional manipulation, but it's still incredible how effect a marketing campaign that was. Like it felt like everyone I knew started talking about it overnight.
