For real, the whole country was begging for help and he was the only one that would have talked about it. Biden just shut up and hoped the Trump hate would bring him over the finish line.
I've said this before, but its the "I should have invested in Apple in the early 90s" logic. The other part of that that nobody every thinks about is the "not selling said stocks" for 30 years part. The forces against Bernie were going to grow and grow and grow the closer he got to power. Probably to the point where the DNC would have just nominated Obama directly for a third term, if it came down to it. Or maybe Bernie gets heart-attacked. Or whatever. In a fair fight, sure, Bernie would have won. But Bernie was going up against the entire neoliberal capitalist class and was incredibly out gunned.
